about

Shirin Sahbá is an Iranian-Canadian artist living and working in Barcelona, Spain. Born into a family of a world renown architect and artist, Shirin Sahbá began her journey as a creative from a very young age; raised immersed in numerous cultures and countries, she continues to transmute a vivid life of memories and experiences into an equally vivid palette in her work.

Sahbá graduated from Ontario College of Art and Design in Canada, after which her career was launched with her first solo exhibition. Since then, her hyper-sensitivity to colors and environments, her unique lens and intuitive style of painting have garnered her attention around the globe, earning her exhibitions in Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.

A book of her works has been published by Chronicle Books, as well as many magazines, including Architectural Digest Spain, which hailed her a "color alchemist". Her recent work stretches beyond the traditional frames of painting and ventures into the realm of sculpture, with paintings made on canvases that she herself fashions by hand. Her work speaks to themes of nostalgia, movement, transformation, womanhood, and the shared human experience.
